Literature Text

I can see the teardrops falling; you were never meant to weep
I can feel the pain within your eyes; why must your sorrows steep?
I know you cannot see me, for your sight is blinded now
I know you do not want my word, regardless of my vow

Crying in the moonlight, screaming out your rage
Swallow up the night with tears, try to turn the page
This happens when you suffer, but it happens for a lie . . .
Of every human heart you held, would you bid your friendships die?

You’re at the end, you’re at the wall, a prisoner of despair
But you’re not alone, you’re not forgone, you’re still our lady-fair

So hear me now
. . . this lamentation is for you
O heed me now
. . . these prayers are sung for you

PLARE DIEM, PUELLA! lament the day with me
PLARE DIEM, dearest heart, IGITUR AGE DUM
PLARE DIEM, REGINA! lament the day we parted
PLARE DIEM, broken heart; VARIARE VALEAS

I cannot stand to see you bleed yourself for pasts you’ve slain,
I cannot stand to see this when forgiveness waits again.
Let it stop.

Hate, she said.

Such a powerful word, such an unforgiving term . . .

. . . I don’t know this hate.

And I won’t.

But I will continue to pray: let it stop.

For the three that I hold dear, who cry for this wretched circumstance. Friends ought never to fight so fiercely for such things, and my heart breaks daily for the agony you bear together and share in silence.

May it be that soon, in one way, or the other . . . for your sake alone, my dear friends, may it be soon that your tears will cease.

This is my gift – and my grief – for each of you.

Beautiful.
It holds a mournful and tragic air, a simgle survivor clinging to hope in theface of a half-doubted dawn....
*quietly takes a breath and watches him patiently*
if all i could spare to offer was my smile, i'd hope it was enough...
but i would give you more than that at the first drop of sorrow, and this you know, for i've beaten the promise into you until you could no longer deny it...
i only pray that in my absence you have not forgotten all I would have you take to heart....
